Toddler House

18 months - 3 years

Although this developmental stage is sometimes labeled the “Terrible Twos,” we believe toddlers are extraordinary. Their enthusiasm, independence, and curiosity are celebrated here in a carefully prepared environment created to support joyful learning and discovery.

An environment conducive to learning

While many early childhood programs can feel busy and overstimulating, parents are often struck by the calm, orderly atmosphere of our toddler classroom. The peaceful environment and minimal distractions support her growing ability to concentrate and manage impulses, laying a strong foundation for meaningful learning—both here and in the years ahead.

A community

Our students develop into a close-knit, compassionate community. By working, learning, and growing side by side, they gain far more than they ever could on their own.

“Help me to do it myself”

Your child has a natural desire for independence, and we nurture it by thoughtfully preparing an environment designed just for her. Everything is sized to fit her small hands and growing abilities. With child-sized tools, she can prepare a snack and share it with friends. A perfectly proportioned broom allows her to tidy up on her own. She learns self-care skills, including toilet training, in a supportive and respectful way.

Along the way, she gains practical life skills and growing self-confidence—but even more importantly, she begins to believe in her own capability and her power to make a meaningful contribution to the world around her.

A beautiful environment

Our bright, welcoming toddler classrooms are thoughtfully prepared for children ages 18 to 36 months—a world carefully scaled to their size. Here, your child paints, prepares simple foods, waters the garden, sings with friends, and explores hands-on materials that strengthen both fine and gross motor skills.

Absorbing language

We immerse your child in rich, engaging conversation during this extraordinary period of rapid language growth. As she experiments—perhaps trying to blow bubbles—we might gently encourage her with words like, “Blow! Can you move the air like the wind?”

Her mind naturally and effortlessly absorbs new vocabulary, laying the groundwork for future reading, writing, and confident self-expression.

A joyful experience

Maria Montessori once observed, “One test of the correctness of the educational procedure is the happiness of the child.” Step into our Toddler classroom and you’ll find children who are joyful, fully engaged, and warmly connected to their friends and teachers. In this nurturing environment, your child develops a lasting love of school and a genuine enthusiasm for learning.

Ready to move up

Once children are 3 years old and toilet trained, they begin to show a greater confidence in his independence, a curiosity about bigger ideas, and a desire to discover what comes next beyond the Toddler classroom. At this stage, he is ready to transition into the Children’s House program, designed for children ages 3 to 6.
